Satan's
Little Season (SLS) Revelation 12's short wrath = Revelation 20's
little season. Part 4 of 4 They are the same
event, just told twice, once from heaven's viewpoint, once from the
symbolic "millennium" timeline. Revelation 12:12
– "Woe to the earth and the sea! For the devil has come
down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is
short." Revelation 20:3 – "After that he
must be released for a little while [Greek: mikron chronon]." In both passages, Satan has a limited period of activity.
The Greek phrases: Rev 12: oligon kairon
(short time) Rev 20: mikron chronon (little time) Both mean a brief and defined period. There's no need to
see them as different when the language and concept match. Rev 12:9 – "The great
dragon was thrown down... the deceiver of the whole world." Rev 20:2–3 – "He seized the dragon... and threw
him into the abyss... so that he might not deceive the nations any
longer." In both chapters, Satan is restrained and then
unleashed again for a short period, ending in
judgment. Revelation uses parallel visions from different
angles. Rev 12 is
heaven-focused: the war in heaven, casting out
Satan, and persecution of the woman and her seed. Rev 20 is earth-focused:
saints reigning, Satan bound and released, final judgment. The same events are shown in different
symbolic frameworks. That's a well-established structure in
Revelation (e.g., the seals, trumpets, and bowls all cycle over the
same period from different angles). Rev 12 ends with Satan enraged at
the woman and making war on her offspring. Rev 20 ends with Satan leading the nations to war and being
thrown into the lake of fire. Same enemy, same war, same fate, just told in symbolic patterns. In this view, the millennium as symbolic, a period when Satan is
bound (i.e., restrained), not a literal 1000 year reign. Revelation
12–20 fits this view perfectly: Satan is cast down (Rev 12), restrained (Rev 20), then
allowed to act for a short time in both cases before final defeat. Yes, Revelation 12's "short
time" and Revelation 20's "little season" are the
same. They both describe Satan's brief, final attempt to
destroy God's people before being judged.
