Earth - Land - G1093 - Ge

Time after time I hear, "You know, every eye is going to see Him when He comes. Most of the time they don't even give any scriptures. It's like, take that! That's what the Bible says and that hasn't happened yet." Many place the fulfillment of Revelation in the future thinking it's global. A good example is Revelation 1:7 Revelation 1:7 NASB 7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth [G1093-ge] will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen. I like how The Kingdom Bible puts it. Revelation 1:7 TKB 7 Behold, He comes with the cloud; and every eye will see Him, and also they who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the land [G1093-ge] will wail because of Him. Even so, Amen. Ge is not planet Earth it's "the land". So "every eye will see Him" cannot be placed outside the first century. Everyone in the land [G1093-ge] of Israel saw His Coming in the Destruction of Jerusalem. They in the land [G1093-ge] were those who pierced Him in fulfillment of Isaiah 53:5 and Zechariah 12:10. If we can see the word "ge" in Revelation, we will without a doubt see it's local fulfillment. And know that John was not talking about the globe. Let's look at Revelation 3:10-11 NASB 10 Because you have kept My word of perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of the testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth [G1093-ge]. 11 I am coming quickly; hold firmly to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. The New American Standard Bible in there footnotes at least uses "inhabited earth" for "whole world" but that is not enough to show that God is not talking about the entire planet Earth. If we do not know the meaning "ge" we will always be thinking it's for all of planet Earth. Let's see what the The Kingdom Bible says. Revelation 3:10-11 TKB 10 Because you have kept the word of My endurance, I also will keep you from the hour of trial, which is about to come on the entire Roman world, to test them that dwell upon the land [G1093-ge]. 11 Behold, I come quickly; take possession of that which you have, that no one may take your crown. Thank God for The Kingdom Bible! Now let's dissect Revelation 3:10-11, if you will. As mentioned above, the NASB uses "inhabited earth" for "whole world" in their footnotes. Their trying to correct some translation mistakes, but still have a ways to go. "world" in this verse is oikoumenes not kosmos we know it's the inhabited earth at that time. So, what do we know? We know Jesus tells us the "hour of trial" will come upon the land of Israel and has nothing to do with the 21st century, because that judgment is in the past. Let's look at 2 Peter 3:10 at and compare the NKJV to the NASB and then the TKB 2 Peter 3:10 NKJV 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements [G4747-stoicheion] will melt with fervent heat; both the earth [G1093-ge] and the works that are in it will be burned up. Futurists really love to quote this verse. They say "There you have it! the Earth is going to be burned up!" And just like that too. 2 Peter 3:10 NASB 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements [G4747-stoicheion] will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth [G1093-ge]and its works will be discovered. This is why we must compare scripture with different versions. Without looking up any Greek we can already tell "will be burned up" and "will be discovered" do not mean the same thing. 2 Peter 3:10 TKB 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a roaring thunder, and the (Jewish) elements [G4747-stoicheion] will dissolve with fervent heat, the earth [land G1093-ge] also and the works that are in it will be burned utterly. Without studying Stoicheion, one would never know what is actually burning up. Stoicheion is in the Bible only 7 times. None of them speak of physical elements of the earth.
