The Light of the Lamb: The Glory That Never Fades

Isaiah 60:19-20
No longer will you have the sun for light by day, nor for brightness will the moon give you light; but you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, and your God for your glory. Your sun will no longer set, nor will your moon wane; for you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be over.

Isaiah foresaw the day when God Himself would be the everlasting light of His people.
This prophecy looked beyond physical creation to the spiritual illumination of the new covenant.
The fading of the sun and moon symbolized the fading of the old covenant system, whose glory was temporary.
The everlasting light is the presence of God revealed in the face of Christ, never to fade or set.

John 8:12
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

Jesus identified Himself as the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy, the true light that never goes out.
The "Light of life" replaces the law's shadow, bringing understanding, truth, and eternal fellowship.
Those who follow Him walk in the light of the new creation, free from the darkness of death and sin.
Christ's light is not external or temporary; it abides within all who belong to Him.

Revelation 21:23-25
And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed.

John's vision shows the complete fulfillment of Isaiah's promise, the eternal city glowing with divine light.
The Lamb Himself is the lamp, for in Him the fullness of God's glory shines without limit.
The absence of night means no more ignorance, sin, or death, the reign of light is unbroken.
The open gates show constant access to God's presence, unblocked by separation or shadow.

2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Paul connects creation's light with redemption's light, the same God who spoke light into being now shines in us.
The "face of Christ" is the place where divine glory is revealed without veil or shadow.
This light gives knowledge, not just sight, understanding of who God is through His Son.
The glory that once dwelt in temples now radiates from within the hearts of the redeemed.

Revelation 22:5
And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.

The eternal kingdom is defined by perpetual light, no alternation between day and night.
God's light is not seasonal or symbolic; it's the eternal presence of His Spirit in His people.
The reign of the saints coincides with the reign of light, for they rule in the illumination of His glory.
Darkness is gone forever because the source of light, the Lamb, will never cease to shine.

Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread?

David's personal confession now becomes the reality of the fulfilled kingdom.
The light that once guided Israel by promise now dwells eternally in every believer.
The presence of this light eliminates fear, there is no darkness left to dread.
Salvation and illumination are one and the same in the Lamb's glory.

2 Corinthians 3:7-11
But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory.

The old covenant had fading glory; the new covenant shines with increasing and eternal brightness.
The veil that hid Moses' face symbolized the temporary nature of the law's radiance.
In Christ, the veil is removed and the true glory shines without decline.
The light of the Lamb is not reflective like Moses' face, it's self existent and eternal.

How it applies to us today
The light of the Lamb is the life we live in daily, eternal, indwelling, and unstoppable.
We no longer wait for the dawn; the day has already come and will never end.
The world around us may darken, but the kingdom's light shines within us perpetually.
The glory that once filled the temple now fills our hearts, guiding and transforming us continually.
The Lamb's light never fades because His reign never ends, the eternal day is here to stay.
