The Joy of Being a Preterist

Introduction
Joy is a fruit of the Spirit and a sign of understanding what God has accomplished. When we see that every promise has been fulfilled in Christ and that His kingdom is present now, joy naturally overflows. Preterism isn't just an interpretation of prophecy, it's a proclamation of God's completed work.

The Joy of Fulfilled Promises
Matthew 24:34 - Jesus said, Truly I say to you, this generation won't pass away until all these things take place. We rejoice because we know He kept His word exactly as spoken. Nothing failed.
Luke 21:22 - These are the days of vengeance, so that all things which are written will be fulfilled. Our joy is rooted in a God who finishes everything He begins.
Joshua 21:45 - Not one of the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed, all came to pass. His faithfulness never changes, giving us confidence today.

The Joy of a Present Kingdom
Colossians 1:13 - He rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son. We aren't waiting for a kingdom, we're living in it.
Hebrews 12:28 - Since we receive a kingdom which can't be shaken, let's show gratitude. Joy flows from knowing we stand in a kingdom that'll never fail.
Daniel 2:44 - The God of heaven will set up a kingdom which'll never be destroyed. That kingdom is the one Christ brought and continues to reign over now.

The Joy of a Finished Redemption
Hebrews 9:26 - He's been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
Revelation 21:6 - It's done. I am the Alpha and the Omega. The cross and the AD 70 judgment together show a complete redemption. We aren't in a holding pattern, we're living in the reality of eternal life now.
John 19:30 - It's finished. Jesus declared the work complete, giving us peace and confidence in His victory.

The Joy of Living Without Fear
1 John 4:18 - Perfect love casts out fear. There's no looming end-time terror, no anxious waiting for tribulation. Our joy is full because Christ reigns and the New Jerusalem is here.
Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord always, again I'll say, rejoice. We can rejoice continually because the Lord is present with us now.

The Joy of Fellowship and Mission
Matthew 28:20 - I'm with you always, even to the end of the age. His presence empowers our daily lives and mission.
Ephesians 2:19-22 - We're fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, a living temple where God dwells, giving us constant joy in community and service.

Additional Support for Fulfillment
Time statements confirm nearness and audience relevance in the first century, Matthew 16:27-28; Revelation 1:1-3; 22:6,10,12
Believers already came to Mount Zion and the heavenly Jerusalem, Hebrews 12:22-24
The Old Covenant was becoming obsolete and ready to vanish, Hebrews 8:13
Access to God is now open and ongoing, Hebrews 10:19-22
The kingdom is present and spiritual in scope, Romans 14:17; Colossians 1:13
The church is God's living temple now, Ephesians 2:19-22; 1 Peter 2:5
The appointed time was very near for the first-century audience, Revelation 1:1-3; 22:6,10,12

How This Applies Today
We worship with confidence, knowing God's word stands proven.
We live with purpose, spreading the good news of a kingdom that's already present.
We rejoice in every circumstance, because Christ's victory is complete and eternal.
