Fulfilled Prophecies

Beforehand – BEFOREHAND
poster Beforehand – BEFOREHAND

BEFOREHAND Why would Jesus warn his disciples that "I have told you BEFOREHAND" "when you see these things..." things to come in the Last days if it were not for them? Many Futurists think this message is directly relayed to them.

Mark 13:11 And when they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry BEFOREHAND about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you at that time; for you are not the ones speaking, but it is the Holy Spirit.

Jesus tells His disciples specifically that when they are brought before rulers, they should not worry because the Holy Spirit will speak through them. This aligns with the persecution the early church faced leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70.

Acts 3:18 But those things which God FORETOLD by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. Acts 10:41 not to all the people, but to witnesses who had been chosen BEFOREHAND by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. This shows that Jesus’ sufferings and post-resurrection appearances were foretold and fulfilled in that generation.

Romans 1:2 which He promised BEFOREHAND through His prophets in the holy Scriptures,

This highlights the fulfillment of Old Testament promises in their time Jude 17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken BEFOREHAND by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,

This reminds believers to remember what the apostles warned them about, again reinforcing that these warnings were for them, not a distant future audience.

Jesus repeatedly used urgent language such as "this generation" (Matthew 24:34), "some standing here" (Matthew 16:28), and "the time is at hand" (Revelation 1:3). These time markers reinforce the idea that the events He warned about were imminent for His first century followers. The events Jesus warned about, persecution, false messiahs, wars, and the destruction of the temple align with documented historical events surrounding the Jewish Roman War and the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70. So! If Jesus’ words were intended for a distant future, why would He repeatedly warn His disciples to watch for signs that were to unfold in their lifetime? The repeated emphasis on "you" and "this generation" makes it clear He was preparing them for events they would soon experience.

The warning was personal and immediate, not a vague prophecy for believers thousands of years later.
