What
role does each believer play in the construction of this spiritual
house? Each believer plays the role of a
living stone, carefully placed by God in His spiritual temple, the
Church. According to 1 Peter 2:5, the spiritual house is not made of
bricks and mortar, but of people who are: Indwelt by the Spirit (1 Corinthians
3:16) Joined together in Christ (Ephesians
2:20-22) Serving as priests offering spiritual
sacrifices (Romans 12:1, Hebrews 13:15) This means: Every believer is essential, there are
no unnecessary stones. Each one contributes uniquely to the
strength, beauty, and function of the house. Together, we form the dwelling place of
God, a new covenant temple. In the fulfilled view, this also shows
that God's true temple is no longer a physical structure in Jerusalem
but a people redeemed by Christ, established before 70 AD, and
eternally functioning as His kingdom.
