Reaching the Unbelieving – The Gospel Must Be Heard

Even though I believe the prophecies of judgment and the last days were fulfilled in the first century, the mission we've been given still matters. The kingdom has come, Christ reigns, and we now live under the New Covenant but this does not mean the world knows Him. People still need the gospel. Especially those who say there is no God.

The atheist is not our enemy, they are our mission.

God Gives Life and Breath

Acts 17:25 says, "nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things." To the atheist who says there is no God, He is the very reason you're alive right now. You do not owe your next breath to science or evolution. You owe it to a Creator who is patient, merciful, and giving you time to seek Him.

God Is Not Far

Acts 17:27 says, "that they would seek God, if perhaps they might feel around for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us." God is not hiding. He is not playing games. He sent His Son to reveal Himself, once for all. The question is not whether He is real, but whether your heart is open to see.

So What Is the Gospel?

Let me say it plainly:

  • All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

  • The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

  • God demonstrated His love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

  • Jesus was crucified for our sins, buried, and raised from the dead. That is the gospel Paul preached (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

  • Whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).

  • There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

That is the good news: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, took your place, bore your sin, and conquered death through the cross and resurrection. He is Lord. And He invites you to believe, to be made new, and to live forever in His kingdom.

The Gospel Is Still Power

Even though I believe the prophecies of Revelation have been fulfilled, the gospel has not expired. It is still "the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16). We preach it not because we fear some future apocalypse, but because we love people who are perishing in sin right now.

The Atheist Must Ask

To the atheist, let me speak directly:

  • If you're wrong, what do you lose by humbly asking, "God, if you are real, show me"?

  • If you're right, your prayer falls into the air. But if I'm right, your eternity is at stake.

  • Jeremiah 29:13 says, "You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."

God does not reject those who seek Him with sincerity.

True Love Comes From God

1 John 4:7 says, "Beloved, let's love one another, for love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." You may love your family, your child, or your grandparent. But if you truly love them, ask yourself this: do you want to spend eternity separated from them?

The gospel gives hope that this life is not the end. That through Christ, we can be with those we love in the presence of God forever. Not floating on clouds, but living in a kingdom where righteousness dwells.

Conclusion: We Preach Because We Care

We do not preach to win arguments. We preach because eternity matters. We preach because Christ died for sinners. We preach because every unbeliever is one heartbeat from standing before their Creator. And we preach because the gospel is still the power of God to save.

So to the atheist: God is not your enemy. He is your only hope. He made you, sustains you, and sent His Son to redeem you. And He is waiting for you to ask.

And to the believer: do not stay silent. Fulfilled prophecy has not canceled the gospel. It has confirmed it. Now go and preach it boldly, lovingly, and urgently.

"How then are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher?" Romans 10:14

Let us be that preacher.
