In Matthew 24 were told ALL the events that would happen in the
Destruction of Jerusalem. Most Christians were taught this was not a
Coming. What does verse 3 say? Coming! All of these events are part
of the Olivet Discourse which took place before 70AD ended. Matthew,
Mark and Luke write about it in their gospels. And John writes about
the Olivet Discourse in Revelation. It's not in his gospel. So, the
Olivet Discourse is not about a future coming in judgment. It's
about the Destruction of Jerusalem that ended the Age. Just because
God was not seen bodily on earth, He was seen in the clouds and the
events were certainly noticeable, And history has been written to
prove it. Historian Josephus describes a
heavenly army in the clouds much like the army Jesus leads in
Revelation 19:11-14. Tacitus also mentions this event: "In the
sky appeared a vision of armies in conflict, of glittering armour."
Pseudo-Hegesippus also describes the coming of Christ on the clouds
with His mighty angels. There was nothing secret or hidden
about the parousia of Christ. It was preceded by signs, and was
signified by the complete destruction of the temple and Jerusalem,
on the generation Jesus spoke to. There was nothing spiritual or
hidden about the coming of Christ. He just didn't appear bodily and
visibly. Nor was He supposed to. If we understand what He meant by
"come in the glory of the Father" and "I do only what
I see the Father do" we would understand this. How did the
father come? Read Isaiah 13 coming to Babylon, Isaiah 19 coming to
Egypt, Isaiah 34 coming to Edom. All use the same apocalyptic
language Jesus used in the Olivet Discourse to describe His coming
in power and great glory. 1 Corinthians 10:11 11Now these things
happened to them as an example, and they were written for our
instruction, upon whom [them] the ends of the ages have come. Philippians 4:5 5Let your gentle
spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. James 5:8-9 8You too be patient;
strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. 9Do not
complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may
not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door. 1 Peter 4:7 7The end of all things is
near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for
the purpose of prayer 1 John 2:18 18Children, it is the last
hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many
antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last
hour. It was clear that his coming was
imminent and that Christ coming was going to be in that generation
Matt 24:34. He gave the Jews one generation to repent of their sins.
He gave them from the time he was crucified in 30 AD until 70 AD. When we wait on the Lord He returns to
us thousands and thousands of times. Find the blessing in it, some
are still waiting for a Second Return and Hebrews 9:28. We have it
now! Matthew 10:23 But whenever they
persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you,
you will not finish going through the cities of Israel
until the Son of Man comes. Jesus told His Apostles they would not
have time to preach in every city of Israel before he had come. Matthew 16:27-28 27For the Son of Man
is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and
WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS. 28“Truly I say
to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not
taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”
Some of Jesus' disciples would not die before His coming. Matthew 21:40-45 - If the chief
priests and Pharisees knew it was them, How can this be in our
future? Matthew 24:33-34 33so, you too, when
you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right
at the door. 34Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass
away until all these things take place. Jesus told His disciples
their generation will not pass away until all these things are
fulfilled. Matthew 26:64 64Jesus *said to him,
“You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you,
hereafter you will see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF
POWER, and COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.” This is Jesus speaking
to high priest and Sanhedrin not you and I. IMPORTANT! let's look at
it again: Matthew 26:64 Jesus said to him, "You have said it
YOURSELF. But I tell you, from now on you [HIM NOT YOU] will see the
Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the
clouds of heaven." It DOES NOT SAY "You have said it
yourself. But I tell you, from now on YOUR SUCCESSORS will see the
Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the
clouds of heaven." Mark 1:14-15 14Now after John had been
taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of
God, 15and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God
is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Notice the time was
fulfilled and the Kingdom was at hand. Mark 9:1 1And Jesus was saying to
them, “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are
standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of
God after it has come with power.” Some try to dismiss Christ'
coming by saying 'taste death" does not mean dieing, that is
false. In fact, .Jesus knew some first century Christians would be
alive and some would not, at His Coming. Paul also knew those he was
speaking to, some would be alive and some would not, at the Mark 13:30 30Truly I say to you, this
generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
Mark says the same thing as Matthew: 24:34 Mark 14:61-62 61But He kept silent and
did not answer. Again the high priest was questioning Him, and
saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62And Jesus said, “I am; and you shall see THE SON OF MAN SITTING
AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING WITH THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.”
THEM [Jewish officials not you and I] will see the Son of Man
sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of
the sky Luke 9:27 27“But I say to you
truthfully, there are some of those standing here who will not taste
death until they see the kingdom of God.” A child can understand
this why can't adults? Luke 21:20-22 20“But when you see
Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation
is near. 21Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains,
and those who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who
are in the country must not enter the city; 22because these are days
of vengeance, so that all things which are written will be
fulfilled. 32Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away
until all things take place. Luke 21:22; 32 - All things written
were fulfilled IN His Generation. THIS WAS JUST MATTHEW MARK AND LUKE -
Please take the time to read the following verses: John 5:25 - Resurrection is the

Second Coming
Matthew 24 is the "setting"
for the Olivet Discourse, His Coming, the End of the Age and the
temples destruction. Notice that Jesus' Apostles equated the
Destruction of the Temple with His Coming and the End of the Age.
Again this is not the end of the world it was the end of the Mosaic
age. (Matthew 24:3, Jeremiah 31:31)
The Second Coming in 66-1/2 to
70AD includes the end of the age, the judgment, the resurrection and
the establishment of the Kingdom of God.
We cannot be waiting
for something we already have. In His resurrection, we have passed
from death to life. We need to realize what we have in Christ and
how to enjoy it, now. God is with us and dwells with us, now.
John
21:22-23 22Jesus *said to him, “If I want him to remain until I
come, what is that to you? You follow Me!” 23Therefore
this saying went out among the brethren that that disciple would not
die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but only,
“If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to
you?” Jesus is saying, If I keep John alive until I come at the
2nd coming what is it to you? Jesus was saying that its none of
Peter's business if John remains alive until his return.
