See Me No More Jesus spoke a profound truth
to His disciples in John 14:19-20:
"After
a little while, the world will no longer see Me, but you will see
Me; because I live, you will live also. In that day you will know
that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you."
Jesus
made it clear that after His departure, the world would no
longer see Him. But His followers would see Him not
physically, but spiritually, by revelation. The kingdom Jesus spoke of is not
physical or observable by worldly eyes. He said in Luke
17:20-21:
"The kingdom of God is not
coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, 'Look, here it
is!' or, 'There it is!' For behold, the kingdom of God is in your
midst."
The kingdom is not something you
can point to. It is not in a building, a nation, or a visible
throne. It is Christ Himself, dwelling in us. Many are still waiting to see
Jesus with their eyes. But Jesus warned that His coming would not
be like that. He would return in a way that only the faithful would
perceive by faith, not sight. He told us plainly:
Matthew
24:26-27
"So if they say to you,
'Look, He is in the wilderness,' do not go out there, or, 'Look, He
is in the inner rooms,' do not believe them. For just as the
lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so
will the coming of the Son of Man be."
His
presence would not be confined to a place. It would be
unmistakable, but not in the way the world expects. In 2 Corinthians 5:16,
Paul affirmed this shift:
"Therefore from now
on we recognize no one by the flesh; even though we have known
Christ by the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer."
We
no longer relate to Christ through physical eyes. We know Him
through the Spirit. This aligns with what Jesus told
Peter in Matthew 16:17:
"Blessed
are you, Simon... because flesh and blood did not reveal this to
you, but My Father who is in heaven."
True
knowledge of Christ is not learned through sight, but through
revelation from the Father. Paul also wrote in 1
Corinthians 2:9-10:
"Things which
eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered
the human heart, all that God has prepared for those who love Him.
For to us God revealed them through the Spirit." The world cannot see Christ
because they look with natural eyes. But He promised His followers,
"you will see Me." That seeing
comes through faith and the indwelling Spirit. Jesus said in John
14:23:
"If anyone loves Me, he will
follow My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to
him and make Our dwelling with him."
This
is the true return of Christ the presence of God in us. So when Jesus said, "the
world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me,"
He was describing the new way of knowing Him, through the Spirit. Just as He said in Luke 17:22:
"They
will say to you, 'Look there, look here!' Do not leave, and do not
run after them."
Because His presence is
not out there to be chased, it is within the believer. Conclusion: The world no longer sees Jesus because
they only look with physical eyes. But we who believe, see Him by
faith. He lives in us. His kingdom is in our hearts. He is not
coming to be seen with eyes of flesh again, He has already returned
to dwell in His people. Let us not wait to see Him,
but live as those who know Him, because He said, "you
will see Me; because I live, you will live also."
