Saved
by Jesus Only
From a fulfilled view using NASB
scripture only.
There is one truth that transcends all others in Scripture:
salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. Not in
works, not in religion, not in temples or sacrifices, but in the
risen Son of God, Jesus the Christ. Let us walk through the Scriptures and build a firm foundation on
what it means to be saved by Jesus only. John 14:6
Jesus
said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no
one comes to the Father except through Me."
This was not
a suggestion. It was a divine declaration. No other door leads to
the Father. No other road reaches eternal life. Jesus is not a way,
He is the way. Acts 4:12
"And
there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under
heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be
saved."
Peter was speaking to the very religious rulers
of his day, who trusted in the Law, the Temple, and the traditions
of men. But Peter made it clear: Jesus alone can save. John 10:9
"I
am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and
will go in and out and find pasture."
Jesus called
Himself the door. Not the priesthood. Not the Levitical system. Not
even Moses. If salvation is to be found, it is found by entering
through Jesus. Romans 10:9
"That
if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be
saved;"
Confession and belief are not ritualistic acts.
They are born from true faith. It is the acknowledgment that Jesus
is Lord, and that His resurrection conquered the power of death. John 11:25
"Jesus
said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life; the one who
believes in Me will live, even if he dies,'"
This was
spoken before 70 AD, in a time of expectation and imminent
judgment. Yet Jesus gave hope that transcended even physical death.
Those who believed in Him, even before the end of the Old Covenant
age, would live. 1 John 2:23
"Whoever
denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the
Son has the Father also."
There is no getting around this
truth. No one can claim to know God while rejecting the Son. It is
through the Son that we have access to the Father. John 20:30-31
"So then, many
other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples,
which are not written in this book; but these have been written so
that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and
that by believing you may have life in His name."
John's
Gospel was written to bring us to belief in the Son of God. Why?
Because life, true life, is found in Him alone. The Fulfilled Work of Jesus The work of salvation was not left incomplete. As a preterist, I
stand on the testimony that Jesus accomplished what He came to do.
The promise was to save His people from their sins, and He did. Matthew 1:21
"She
will give birth to a Son; and you shall name Him Jesus, for He will
save His people from their sins." Luke 19:10
"For the Son of Man
has come to seek and to save that which was lost." The mission was not to postpone salvation but to complete it.
Jesus did not fail. The Old Covenant came to its end with the
destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and the New Covenant, founded in
Jesus, now stands as the eternal covenant. Hebrews 9:12
"And
not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own
blood, He entered the Holy Place once for all time, having obtained
eternal redemption." Hebrews 10:10
"By
this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body
of Jesus Christ once for all time." Hebrews 10:14
"For by one
offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified." There is no other Messiah coming.
There is no other sacrifice needed. He is the Savior. Period. What About Today? Many ask, "If all prophecy has been fulfilled, what does
salvation mean for us now?"
The answer is simple: Jesus is
still the only way to the Father. What was true then is still true
now. The power of His blood and the life in His name are still
available to all who believe. 1 Timothy 2:5
"For
there is one God, and one mediator also between God and mankind,
the man Christ Jesus," Revelation 22:17
"The Spirit and
the bride say, 'Come.' And let the one who hears say, 'Come.' And
let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires, take the
water of life without cost." That offer still stands. The Bride
(the Church) and the Spirit still call. The door is still open. Conclusion Salvation is not in your works, your heritage, your denomination,
or your theology.
It is found in Jesus Christ alone. He is the Way, not one of many
ways. He is the Truth, not just a truth
among others. He is the Life, not a philosophy or tradition. Do you believe in Him?
Have
you confessed that Jesus is Lord?
Have you
entered through the only door? Let us not be swayed by those who
teach another gospel, another savior, or another hope.
Jesus is
enough.
Jesus saves.
And Jesus alone. Amen.
