New
Testament Writers
By Dan Maines
The New Testament writers wrote about
things that pertained to them, not us in the future. The NT is not
written to each generation. It's letters written by 1st century
people to 1st century people that concern 1st century events that
pertain to the people the letters were written to.
Didn't
Jesus say that all prophecy would be fulfilled before some of His
Apostles died? Yes! He did say that.
Matthew 16:27-28
27
For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with
His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds. 28
"Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing
here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in
His kingdom."
Luke 21:22 For these are days of
vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Luke
21:31-32 So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize
that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly I say to you, this
generation will not pass away until all things take place.
Matthew
24:34 Most assuredly I tell you, this generation will not pass away,
until all these things are accomplished.
When Jesus said
"when all things written must be fulfilled" a point in
history would come to an end, Old Covenant Israel., also known as
heaven and earth. When Jerusalem fell, every promise would be filled.
But just as Jesus said "He did not come to destroy or do away
the Law and the Prophets. He came to fulfill them. The Law would not
disappear until everything was fulfilled not a jot or a tittle until
the the days of vengeance was completed in that first generation. To
show He meant that first generation He tells us in Matthew
23:33-36
33 You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how
will you escape the judgment of Gehenna?
34 Therefore, behold, I
send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will
kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your
synagogues, and persecute from city to city;
35 that on you may
come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of
righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you
killed between the sanctuary and the altar.
36 Most assuredly I
tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
Knowing
fulfilled prophecy has so many more blessings. Study it for yourself
and see if Jesus was right or the doctrines of man.
