God
Still Speaks to His People Inspired
by Alf
Hutchison comment "And there are 'scholars' who
tell us God doesn't speak to us ...I just pity them , they are
missing out on a great experience.." There are scholars who claim God
does not speak to us today. I just pity them. They are missing out
on a great experience. While many believe the miraculous
spiritual gifts have ceased (1 Corinthians 13:8-10), the Holy
Spirit is still active, still teaching, still guiding. God speaks to us through His Word. That is the voice of God
to this generation. The Word is living and active. Hebrews 4:12
"For the word of God is
living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even
penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both
joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of
the heart." The Spirit of God leads and
convicts through Scripture. This is not dead ink on paper, this is
the mind of God made known. He speaks through providence. He opens and closes doors. He
gives wisdom and clarity when we ask in faith. James 1:5
"But if any of you lacks
wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without
reproach, and it will be given to him." Jesus promised the Spirit would
teach us all things and bring His words to our remembrance. That
promise was for the apostles (John 14:26), but the principle holds:
God teaches through His revealed truth. We who hold to the fulfilled view understand that the
kingdom is here, Christ is reigning, and His Spirit indwells us.
That is a present reality, not a future hope. Romans 8:14
"For all who are being led
by the Spirit of God, these are sons and daughters of God." The fulfilled kingdom is not
silent. God does not leave His people without direction. Through Scripture, through
conscience trained by truth, and through the Body of Christ, God
still speaks. The tragedy is not that God is silent, but that many simply
are not listening. Revelation 3:20
"Behold, I stand at
the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I
will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me." That was said to the
first-century church, but the invitation reveals the heart of God.
He seeks fellowship with His people. God is not distant. He is not silent. He is present in the
lives of His people, reigning from Heaven, speaking through His
Word, and leading His church in truth. Final Thought:
I
pity those who do not hear God speak through His Word. They are
missing communion, correction, and comfort that only comes through
walking with the Lord. Open your Bible. Listen. He is speaking. Thank you Alf, you're right!
