Jesus
Predicts the Destruction of the Temple
In each gospel version (Matthew 24:1-2, Mark 13:1-2, Luke 21:5-6)
Christ tells the disciples that the temple will be destroyed. Matthew writes Matthew 24:3 - "Tell
us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your
coming, and of the end of the age?" Mark writes Mark 13:4 - Tell us, when
will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these
things are going to be fulfilled?" Luke writes Luke 21:7 "Teacher,
when therefore will these things happen? And what will be the sign
when these things are about to take place?" Notice Matthew links the
destruction of the temple to Christ's coming and the "end of
the age" (Matthew 24:3) And in 70AD the Temple was destroyed.
It's a historical fact. Nobody can deny this. Christ described this event
for their generation. Why would the following events be any
different?
By Dan Maines
5 Then, as some
spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and
donations, He said, 6 "These things which you see-the days will
come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not
be thrown down." Luke 21:5-6
