Zechariah 6 The Four Chariots
And The Crowning Of The Branch Fulfilled Introduction † Zechariah 6 closes the night visions with a
powerful picture of judgment and authority going out into the earth,
and it ends with the crowning of the Branch, pointing directly to
Christ's completed work. (Zechariah 6:1-15) † From the fulfilled perspective, this isn't
future speculation, it's showing how God brought judgment on the old
covenant system and established Christ as King and Priest in the same
moment. (Matthew 21:43; Hebrews 7:12) † The vision ties together God's control over
nations and His final establishment of His kingdom through Jesus,
fulfilled in the first century. (Matthew 16:27-28; Luke 21:22) The Four Chariots Zechariah 6:1-3 † These chariots represent God's judgment going
out into the earth, just like the imagery in Revelation where horses
symbolize divine judgment. (Revelation 6:1-8) † The bronze mountains show firmness and
authority, meaning this judgment is established by God and cannot be
stopped. (Jeremiah 1:18) † This isn't random, it's directed judgment
against nations, especially leading toward the destruction of
Jerusalem. (Luke 21:20-22) Zechariah 6:4-5 † The four winds show these are spiritual
forces sent by God, not earthly armies acting on their own. (Daniel
7:2) † God is in full control of history, He sends
judgment exactly where it's needed. (Isaiah 46:10) † This confirms that what happened in AD 70
wasn't accidental, it was directed by God. (Matthew 24:2) Zechariah 6:6-8 † The north country often refers to Babylon,
representing oppression and judgment. (Jeremiah 1:14) † God's wrath being satisfied shows His
covenant judgment has been carried out. (Ezekiel 5:13) † This points forward to the final judgment on
Jerusalem, where God's covenant wrath was fully poured out. (Luke
23:28-31) The Crowning Of The Branch Zechariah 6:9-11 † Joshua the high priest is crowned, something
that normally belongs to a king, showing a merging of roles. (1
Samuel 13:12-13) † This is symbolic of Christ, who is both King
and Priest. (Hebrews 5:6) † It's pointing directly to Jesus as the
fulfillment, not a future figure. (Acts 2:30-36) Zechariah 6:12-13 † The Branch is clearly Christ, building the
true temple, not a physical building but His people. (Ephesians
2:19-22) † He sits as both King and Priest, something no
old covenant figure ever did. (Hebrews 8:1) † This was fulfilled when Christ established
His kingdom and replaced the old system. (Matthew 21:42-43) Zechariah 6:14-15 † Those far off refers to the Gentiles being
brought into the temple of God. (Ephesians 2:13) † The temple being built includes all nations,
not just Israel. (Isaiah 2:2-3) † This was fulfilled in the first century as
the gospel went out and formed the church. (Colossians 1:23) Historical References † Josephus records the destruction of Jerusalem
as a complete judgment that ended the temple system. (Josephus, Wars
of the Jews, Book 6) † Eusebius confirms the early church understood
the fall of Jerusalem as fulfillment of prophecy. (Eusebius,
Ecclesiastical History 3.5) † Tacitus also documents the devastation of
Jerusalem under Rome, showing the historical reality of this
judgment. (Tacitus, Histories 5.13) How It Applies To Us Today † Christ is already reigning as King and
Priest, we aren't waiting for that to happen. (Hebrews 10:12-13) † The old covenant system is gone, we live in
the reality of the fulfilled kingdom. (Hebrews 8:13) † We are the temple now, built together in
Christ, not looking for a physical structure. (1 Corinthians 3:16) † God's judgment and righteousness are
complete, we live in His established peace. (Romans 5:1) † The gospel has already gone to the nations,
and we continue to walk in that finished work. (Colossians 1:6) Q & A Appendix Q: Who are the four chariots? Q: What do the mountains of bronze represent? Q: Who is the Branch? Q: What temple is being built? Q: When was this fulfilled? † This is the fulfilled perspective we proclaim at

Now I raised my eyes again
and looked, and behold, there were four chariots coming out from
between the two mountains; and the mountains were bronze mountains.
With the first chariot were red horses, with the second chariot black
horses, with the third chariot white horses, and with the fourth
chariot strong spotted horses.
Then I said to the angel who
was speaking with me, What are these, my lord? And the angel replied
to me, These are the four spirits of heaven, going out after standing
before the Lord of all the earth,
with one of which the black
horses are going out to the north country; and the white ones go out
after them, while the spotted ones go out to the south country. When
the strong ones went out, they were eager to go to patrol the earth.
And He said, Go, patrol the earth. So they patrolled the earth. Then
He called out to me and spoke to me, saying, See, those who are going
to the north country have appeased My wrath in the north country.
The word of the Lord also
came to me, saying, Take an offering from the exiles, from Heldai,
Tobijah, and Jedaiah; and you go the same day and enter the house of
Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have arrived from Babylon.
Take silver and gold, make an ornate crown, and set it on the head of
Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest.
Then say to him, This is
what the Lord of armies says: Behold, a man whose name is Branch, for
He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of
the Lord. Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the Lord, and He
who will bear the honor and sit and rule on His throne. So He will be
a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the
two offices.
Now the crown will become
a reminder in the temple of the Lord to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and
Hen the son of Zephaniah. Those who are far away will come and build
the temple of the Lord. Then you will know that the Lord of armies
has sent me to you. And it will take place if you completely obey the
Lord your God.
